With the rapid development of science and technology and industrial economy in recent years, aluminum alloy has been widely used in aviation, aerospace, automobile, machinery manufacturing, shipbuilding and chemical industries. It is the most widely used type of non-ferrous metal structural material in the industry. Aluminum alloy is particularly common in the machining industry. RpProto is a manufacturer with 15 years of experience in aluminum alloy machining.
Aluminum alloy is one of the most commonly used materials for machining due to its superior mechanical properties, physical properties and corrosion resistance. RpProto’s commonly used aluminum alloy machining materials are generally divided into the following two categories:
Aluminum for customers in the aviation industry:
- 2000 series aluminum alloys, such as: 2024, 2A16 (LY16), 2A02 (LY6) are characterized by high hardness, among which the original copper content is the highest, about 3-5%
- 7000 series aluminum alloys, such as: 7075 It is an aluminum-magnesium-zinc-copper alloy, a heat-treatable alloy, a super-hard aluminum alloy, with good wear resistance and good weldability.
Aluminum for customers in other general industries:
- 5000 series aluminum alloys, such as 5052 and 5083, the main element is magnesium, and the magnesium content is between 3-5%. It can also be called aluminum-magnesium alloy. The main characteristics are low density, high tensile strength, high elongation, and good fatigue strength.
- 6000 series aluminum alloys, such as 6061, mainly contain magnesium and silicon, and are suitable for applications that require high corrosion resistance and oxidation resistance. They have good workability, are easy to coat, and have good machinability.
Aluminum alloy machined products have a wide range of uses, such as cavities, housings, heat sinks, small internal parts, etc. RpProto has engineers with 20 years of processing experience who are very familiar with the material properties of aluminum alloys and the processing technology required, and can also meet customers’ surface treatment requirements.
